Yikes! My School is Closing… Now What?

Establishing a strong and effective parent and school partnership is the ever-elusive dream of most school leaders. The power that lies in a positive home and school connection is undeniable. Research has repeatedly shown that student performance and overall wellbeing is significantly improved when families are involved with schools. This was a commendable project focus and would have served our school well.

Unfortunately, best laid plans are not always able to be realized. When a school district decides to close a school, priorities quickly and dramatically shift. Yikes! My School Closed… Now What? details the path that was taken to ensure the continued improvement of a school on the verge of closure, all while supporting the emotional welfare of impacted stakeholders. It shows the ups and downs of the struggle to make the best of a challenging and stressful situation.
